Hi, everyone. I won’t make this too long since I just bothered you on Halloween, but today is The Day. The Keeper of the Key is officially my second published novel.
I came up with the idea in 2017 when I started musing about an updated, young adult retelling of the Bluebeard legend. I wrote the first draft during Camp NaNoWriMo in April 2018. It went to many a workshop and reader before finding a home with Parliament House Press in 2023. I’m very proud of all the work editor Alexandra Buchanan and I did on the novel, and I can’t wait for you to read it.
I also adore the wonderful cover Cho-hyun Kim designed for the book. And hey, I just discovered an article in Dark Matter Magazine about Kim. Check it out if you’d like to see more of her work: https://darkmattermagazine.shop/blogs/issue-017/art-feature-beyond-the-veil
If you’ve already ordered the book, thank you! If you haven’t, it’s available from many online booksellers: https://books2read.com/u/bQGyKd Got some horror fans in your life and need a holiday gift for them? Grab a copy for them too.
And when you’ve finished reading it, PLEASE leave a review. Positive, negative, or meh—they all matter. I’m not sure if there’s still a magic number of Amazon reviews that will get it more prominently featured on the site, but I do know the more reviews, the better, both for the book’s visibility and for my career in general. And don’t forget Goodreads and other online venues.
Thanks so much for reading, and if you know anyone who might be interested in my work, please feel free to pass this along to them.
Stay spooky and safe,
Nicole
Yay! I'm headed over to Amazon now to cart it and when I'm done reading it, you know I'll do a review!
Congratulations, Nicole! 🎉🎉🎉
